(Gossip-Grind News) ‘The Wire’ Star Anwan “Big G” Glover Stabbed Inside DC Nightclub:

Prayers go up for a speedy recovery for actor Anwan “Big G” Glover. Glover, who is also the frontman for the Backyard Band (a Washington, DC go-go band) was stabbed at a DC nightclub early Sunday morning.

According to a police report, Glover reported that he was on the second floor of Cafe Asia, a restaurant at 1720 I Street NW, when an unknown person punched him. He turned to face his assailant, and another person hit him on the back of the head, causing him to slip on the wet floor.

Glover said that he was then kicked multiple times. He heard someone shout, “He has a knife,” and felt a sharp pain in his right side.

He was treated for a laceration on the right side of his torso at George Washington University Hospital.

Glover, 41, lives in Upper Marlboro and most recently appeared in the Oscar winning movie “12 Years a Slave.” In “The Wire,” he played tough gangster Slim Charles.

Off screen, Glover has participated in anti-violence campaigns and spoken about his personal encounters with violence.

He reportedly was shot 13 times as his youth in Columbia Heights. His brother died in a shooting in the District in 2007, and his son was wounded in a shooting at a party in 2011. (The Washington Post)
