Orlando Jones Taking Over The Role Of Madea In New Tyler Perry Film

Tyler Perry is doing the most. Mr.Perry has gotten so busy with his new shows on Oprah’s OWN network that he doesn’t have time to play Madea in a “Madea” movie (but he had time to play that wack ass Alex Cross character)

“Orlando Jones will be taking over the role of Madea in Tyler Perry’s next movie…This is not a joke.
Former Mad TV star Orlando Jones is starring in Tyler Perry’s Madea Christmas because Tyler is too busy with his new projects on Oprah’s OWN Network.Tyler explains,“It is with mixed emotion that I announce that I will be unable to portray Madea in the next chapter in her journey. The character has been such a gift and it was my hope and intention to play this role again in the upcoming film. But, due to my commitments to the exciting new venture I am launching with OWN and Discovery Communications, I must now put all my energy into our new slate of shows that will launch on the network later this year.” (Rhymes with snitch)

What Perry fails to realize is that the character of Madea can’t be portrayed by anyone else other than himself. Madea is the reason why he is rich and famous. He is Madea, Madea is he. Not taking anything away from Orlando Jones…but he is not Madea.

Madea is not Aunt Viv from “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air”, you can’t just switch her out with a new actor and think that your audience is going to be cool with it. If Perry is too busy to play the character of Madea he should just postpone doing another Madea movie until he has time. Make a “Why did I get married 3” or a “Meet the Browns 2”, but don’t destroy the image and character of Madea just for the sake of making a “Madea” movie.Anyone other than Perry portraying Madea would be likened to your father getting remarried and expecting you to call his new wife Mom…I’m just not feeling it.
