(Gossip-Grind News) Macon Rapper Sonny Spoon Indicted On Federal Drug Charges:

Macon, Ga based rapper James “Sonny Spoon” Maxwell was arrested Tuesday on drug charges. Maxwell was indicted along with 30 other suspects who were charged with money laundering and drug trafficking.

Federal agents, state and local authorities collaborated in the investigation that targeted large scale drug organizations in Macon, Moore said. Over the course of the investigation, authorities seized large amounts of cocaine, marijuana and cash. Moore said some of the drug trafficking occurred in the mail system and through commercial vehicles. Shipping items from Houston, Texas and Northern California to Macon.

Maxwell, aka Sonny Spoon, was the most noted of the suspects. He performed the Atlanta Falcons fight song “The Dirty Bird.” He spent six years in prison on drug and weapons charges. When he was released in 2010, he began speaking to Macon youth about staying out of trouble and making better choices. He even collaborated with Macon Regional Crimestoppers on what they called the Stop the Violence Tour.He also continued with his music collaborating with local and national musicians.

Drug money was also put into bank accounts where account holders quickly withdrew the deposited cash from banks in Texas and Northern California. (NBC 11 Alive)

Maxwell faces several charges including,conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute marijuana (more than 100 kilograms).Conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine (more than 5 kilograms of cocaine). Money laundering (distribution and sale of cocaine and marijuana). Money laundering conspiracy to conceal and disguise nature, location, ownership, and control of proceeds of specified unlawful activity.
