(Gossip-Grind News) Why Did Zendaya Coleman Drop Out Of Aaliyah Biopic?

Dish Nation caught up with gorgeous Zendaya Coleman at the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday night and got the real scoop on why she decided to drop out of the planned Lifetime movie about the life of singer-actress Aaliyah.
The 17-year-old “Dancing With the Stars” runner-up didn’t back down when haters said she wasn’t right for the part. No, the Disney darling put the blame directly on the Lifetime production.

Zendaya says she stepped aside because of the lack of Aaliyah’s music rights and, more importantly, not having the blessings of Aaliyah’s family.

“There were multiple reasons why it wasn’t for me,” Zendaya exclusively told Dish Nation. “You know for me, I think it was most important that I did it for myself and I did something I was going to be proud of and happy about. For the people saying ‘Oh she’s not the right one, she’s not black enough’ I was like, okay, whatever. But for me it was more so the production, it was more so the music rights, it was more so the family. Not being able to be in contact with the family was something that was really hard for me and I wasn’t really okay with. It wasn’t for me.”

Lifetime, which has tapped talk show host Wendy Williams as an executive producer, has replaced Zendaya with Nickelodeon actress Alexandra Shipp.

As for the haters, Zendaya doesn’t seem to have any hard feelings.

“I think when dealing with haters I think I learned a lot from that experience. I learned that there’s a lot of ignorance out there and I learned that you’re never going to be please everybody. And I also learned that the people who are hating are going through stuff too. I have know idea who this person in nameless wherever…I don’t know what they’re dealing with I don’t know what they’re going though. Their happiness in the day could be saying something mean to me. I’m not tripping. I have too much happiness in my life and to much good stuff to look forward to.”
