(Gossip-Grind News) Rapper Shawnna Denied Access To BET Hip Hop Awards:
The 2014 BET Awards were filmed Saturday (Sept.20) in Atlanta. Many of hip hop’s elite, past and present walked the red carpet before the show began. Former Disturbing Tha Peace artist Shawnna wasn’t one of those people. The Chicago rapper was reportedly denied access walk the media line and participate in the show’s program.
Apparently there’s still some bad blood between Shawnna and her former label, DTP, because rumor has it that it was her one-time boss, Chaka Zulu, who allegedly blocked her from participating. It was also said that Shawnna was supposed to be one of the artist featured in the cyphers ( but was replaced by Lil Mama of all People).
A source in Shawnna’s camp tells AllHipHop.com the former Disturbing Tha Peace Records performer was blocked from the event by Chaka Zulu, the BET Hip Hop Awards show executive producer. Zulu is also co-founder of DTP along with his brother Jeff Dixon and emcee/actor Ludacris. The source also claims Shawnna was replaced by Lil Mama in one of the annual cyphers.
Shawnna scored a number one hit in 2003 as a guest on “Stand Up” with Luda. She released two solo studio albums – Worth Tha Weight and Block Music. (AllHipHop)
